The Hillcrest House is for Sale...click here

We are beginning the road to retirement and look forward to handing the home over to new caretakers.  In its history our home has been owned by many community leaders.......a councillor built the house in 1882, a mayor brought up his family here and named it Hillcrest House and a president of the University of Waterloo owned it twice, yes, twice.  We continued the tradition in 2001, embracing its heritage and welcoming guests from around the world.

Location, Location, Location

Hillcrest House is located in the Mary Allen Neighbourhood, on the quiet one way portion of George Street.  It is steps from the new "Spur Line Trail" giving you a trail north to the Universities and south to Kitchener.  It is a four season maintained trail with lighting.   It will be located 2 blocks from a LRT station (under construction).  Also, just steps down the driveway to the Mary Allen Park Development, soon to be underway, it is a vibrant neighbourhood gathering space.

Formal Living Room

A room where many things happen, new ceiling, wood burning fireplace, front bay window, perfect for a games table.  Original wood floor.

The Library

A place to sit and relax, read a book or magazine.  Pierre Burton once had a cigar while chatting here.  Original marble mantel is still in this room.

The Dining Room

We have hosted many a gathering on the main floor.  We have a large table, that with all the extensions, can sit 22 or so.  We have 5 round tables that sit 4 or 5 each.  A large room with hardwood floors, lots of light and a wood burning fireplace.

The Kitchen

We raised the ceiling to match the rest of the home.  Ceiling finished in tin (2013)  New cabinets (2013 and 2014)  Of course the magic happens around the island that houses a six drawer commercial refridgerator.

The Laundry Room and Pantry

Laundry Room updated in 2015, holds washer, dryer and secondary dishwasher.  Lots of folding and prep space, plus upper cabinets for pantry.

The Game Room

The original summer kitchen, converted to wet bar in 2014/15.  Another Fridge (rigged for a keg) and storage.  Century Old Pool Table if you are up for a challenge!

The Rear Entertaining Area

New in 2015.  BBQ area with natural gas line installed featuring a Black Walnut Harvest Table (not incl. in price)  Built by Stefan from a tree felled on the property.

The Side Patio

New in 2015.  Another sitting area perfect for guests.  Great for relaxing and watching the "wildlife"  Brought up to all one level............no tripping!

The Driveway and Garage

The entire area rebuilt in 2014.  Oversize double car garage 24 x 30 with over 10 foot walls and plenty of room to develope a mezzanine for storage.  Parking for another 4 cars.  Original carriageway for the property, a portion is shared with right of way but has never presented a problem.  New Asphalt and retaining walls.

The following rooms are on the second floor and make up three suites for the Bed and Breakfast, technically they could be 5 bedrooms.

The Bellinger Suite

Large Bedroom with 3 piece ensuite and sitting area.  Named after the builder and first owner of the home.

Beans Retreat

The suite is made up of two rooms, one used as the bedroom and the other as the sitting room.  It has a 5 piece bathroom and a "cubby hole" with a single bed used for a third guest.

Beans Sitting Room

The Wright Wing

Another suite with 2 rooms, bedroom and sitting room and a 3 piece bath.  Also, has a very large closet off the hallway

Wright Sitting Room

The Gym

For the guests and our fitness!

Third Floor Suite

"Our Space"  serving as our living space with bed, sitting area, closet and full bath.  We have thought about converting to a media room in the future.
